What will the apprentice be doing on site
We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Apprentice Groundworker to join our team working at the RAF Lakenheath site in Suffolk. This is a great opportunity to start a career in construction by learning on the job while studying towards a nationally recognised qualification in Groundworks.
You’ll gain hands-on experience in essential groundwork activities such as excavation, drainage, kerbing, concreting, and setting out—all while working on a high-profile and secure site with a specialist team.
Assist in preparing ground for construction activities, including setting out and levelling.
Support the installation of drainage systems, ducting, and underground services.
Help with kerbing, paving, slab laying, and concrete works.
Safely use hand tools and small plant under supervision.
Follow all site-specific health and safety protocols, including PPE and access control procedures.
Participate in toolbox talks and health and safety briefings.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
Attend scheduled off-site training with the designated training provider.
Work closely with the site team to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
Monday - Friday 07:30 - 17:00
£320 per week
Are there restrictions
Due to the working hours applicants must be aged 18 or over.
DBS check is and clean criminal record required for site access.
Based locally to RAF Lakenheath or with reliable transport
Essential qualities
Interest in construction and working outdoors.
Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
Physically fit and able to undertake manual tasks.
Able to follow instructions and work well in a team.
Willingness to comply with strict health and safety and security protocols.
Commitment to completing an apprenticeship programme.
Desirable qualities
Previous experience in construction or site work (e.g. labouring or work experience) is desirable.
